In this work, which is heavily inspired by James Joyce’s novel Ulysses, I used a technique of cuts to represent the jumps of thoughts in a stream of consciousness, the latter being one of the characteristic stylistic devices of Joyce’s monumental work. Having all the possibilities of a big orchestra, every musical idea differs in style, energy, and instrumentation, while at the same time sharing their directionality at the beginning. After a slow part, the tempo of the jumps accelerates more and more until the cuts become so rapid that the different ideas lose their identity and come together in a big culmination.
